Today is the last day of school and summer is finally upon us.  Oh how I love the change of seasons and the newness of the next thing coming.  Time to clean out the cubbies and shoe bins, time to pitch the papers and leftover junk that we were holding on to…. just in case.  It time to soak in the sun, sleep in a little, head off to the camps, VBS, Mission trips, vacations…. oh how I love the start of summer.  A fresh start.

What are the areas of your life where you could use a fresh start?  Has your time with the Lord become dry, boring, a religious effort or non-existent?  Has your closet grown full of clothes that no longer fit, are no longer in style, or have stains down the front?  Has your car become cluttered with mail, garbage, empty drinks and other stuff let behind in the hurry of each day?  Has your relationship with your spouse become boring and cold or disconnected all together?  How is your health?  Are you healthier now than you were a year ago or are you slipping down a slippery slope toward obesity, High Blood pressure, Sleep Apnea, aches and pains?  How about your house?  Is it time to spring clean?

It is so easy to get in a place where it all can be so overwhelming.  Let’s take a minute today and just reflect on where we are as we step into this next season.  How does the Lord want to bless you this summer?  Where does he want you to focus your time, attention, money and effort?  What if you days were limited and this was your last summer.  How would you spend your resources then?  Let’s be intentional about these months to come, even if we are intentionally not working, not cleaning, not running around like crazy people.  Maybe we could be intentional about soaking up warmth of the sun and the Son.  Maybe we could trust him to guide us each day and to show us where and what and how he would have us live out our lives in victory.

Just take a little time today and reflect.  Ask the Lord today to lead you and then obey him.  He loves you so much and he has such good plans for your days,  trust him!
